Established in 2001, the School of Foreign Languages instructs English courses of all departments in addition to its English language preparatory program for various departments and programs at Süleyman Demirel University. The School of Foreign Languages is dedicated to excellent teaching by providing a learner-centered environment in which students can develop communicative competence along with creative and critical thinking strategies. To this end, the curriculum has been developed to allow students to attain communicative competence required to function in both academic and daily life settings. In 2005, the school went through a reconstruction process in the scope of the programme it offers. Along with this process, it adopted a three-level, skill-based approach. The books integrating four skills with grammar and combining two accents (British/American) were chosen to foster this process. The aim of the School is to provide associate degree, undergraduate and graduate students with the foreign language education they need throughout their study. To that end, the students receive preparatory and/or post-preparatory education. They get familiarized with general and academic English throughout their study at SDU. The education is also supported by the latest technology outcomes such as smart boards and computer software.
